Tamworth 4 Alfreton Town 1

Wednesday Apr 19, 2017

The Reds went down to their sixth defeat on the trot in the Vanarama National League North beaten heavily 4-1 at Tamworth on Easter Monday after.oon.

Alfreton were much depleted through injuries. This gave an opportunity for manager Russ O'Neill to give Acaadmey skipper, Ellis Evans his first start.

Tamworth's goals came from Danny Newton with an 18th minute penalty and a second on 37 minutes, followed by Reece Styche after 80 minutes and substitute Jed Davies in added on time.

Andy Monkhouse bagged the Red's first goal in 550 minutes after 87 minutes.

The consolation in all this is that Alfreton still lie five points above the releagation zone with just two games to play away at bottom of the table Altrincham and at home to Nuneaton Town.

A full match report and team line-ups can be found in the results section of the website.
