Spennymoor Town v Alfreton Town

Spennymoor Town v Alfreton Town

Thursday Sep 21, 2017

Alfreton Town return to Vanarama National League North action this Saturday with a visit to the Brewery Field, home of Spennymoor Town.

Spennymoor were promoted last season through the play-offs from the Evo-stik Northern Premier, Premier Divsion and have made a good start to the new campaign , currently lying 6th in the table with a playing record of Won 5 Drawn 3 Lost 3 from their eleven league matches, to date. Their form has struggled in recent games, they have won just once in their last six league and cup outings.

The Red's form has of course, gone in the opposite direction. We are unbeaten in our last seven league and cup games.

Spennymoor's last outing saw them suprisingly beaten 2-1 at home by Gainsborough Trinity in the FA Cup Second Qualitying Round. Spennymoor were 1-0 up at the break courtesy of a goal by striker, Glen Taylor. Trinity turned things around in the second half, kicking down the slope, with a superb equaliser from former Red, Ashley Worsfold and a last minute, the winning goal came from Craig King.

The Spennymoor team was: Jordan Porter, Kallum Griffiths, Chris Mason, Jamie Chandler, Joe Taft, Chris Chantler, Robbie Ramshaw, Matthew Dixon, Glen Taylor, Mark Anderson and David Foley.

Used substitutes were Andrew Johnson and Graeme Armstrong.

Long standing Reds fans will remember the 2002-03 season when we beat Spennymoor home and away to clinch the Northern Premier Division One Title over them on goal difference. This was against Spennymoor in their old guise of Spennymoor United.

Admission to the game is Adults £12, Concessions (over 60) £8, Under 18's £3 and Under 10's get in for free.

Matchday programme: £2.50

The catering at the ground is very good and visiring fans are welcome to visit the hospitality marquee in the bottom corner of the ground where they can purchase food and drinks.

Supporter's Association transport leaves the Impact Arena at 8.45 am , where there will be a stop off at the lovely city of Durham before travelling up to Spennymoor itself.
