Preview: Alfreton Town v Darlington

Friday Jan 11, 2019

Alfreton Town return to the Impact Arena for matchday 26 in the National League North campaign as we host Darlington, kick off is 3pm.

After last Saturday's excellent 1-1 draw at in-form Blyth Spartans, which saw the Reds put in a organised and solid performance away from home, Alfreton will be looking to register three points after back to back draws in the last two outings.

Tom Allan give us the lead with a far post header from Jordan Sinnott's corner mid-way through the first half to give us a deserved lead before Robbie Dale struck a low free kick for his 200th Blyth goal to drag the hosts back into the contest against the run of play.

Alfreton had their moments in both the first and second half and crucially an incorrect offside call denied the Reds all three points when Sinnott's corner was glanced on by a Blyth player and slid in by Tom Allan at the back post. The Referee after consulatation with the linesman ruled the goal offside.

Despite this, Alfreton can be pleased after the performance and we will look to continue the recent good displays tomorrow afternoon as we look for three points.

We head into the fixture having drawn our last two league games. The Reds have lost just once in the last five league games but have drawn three times during this period.

Alfreton have lost just once in the last four at the Impact Arena in all competitions but will look to make it three league games unbeaten at home tomorrow.

Visitors Darlington sit one place above us with the same amount of points (30) after 25 games.

Their current playing record stands at: P25, W7, D9, L9.

The Quakers have won three of their last four league games but haven't won on the road in their last six away trips with their last away win being at FC United back in October. Darlington's only other away win was at Brackley in August.
