Reds hunt for a fourth straight league win with Saturday's trip to Nuneaton

In form Alfreton Town head to Liberty Way on Saturday looking for a fourth straight league win as we face bottom side Nuneaton Borough in the National League North, kick off is 3pm.

After last weekend's 2-0 win over relegation threatened Ashton United, the Reds will be looking to kick on further on Saturday with a visit to the league's bottom side. The 2-0 win over Ashton wasn't a great spectacle but Alfreton produced quality when required to repel what was a physical battle against a side fighting for survival.

It was another demonstration of a different kind of win for Billy Heath's men who didn't create large amounts in the first half but switched the tempo and pressure in the second half.

Two goals in the second half; a sublime free kick from Bobby Johnson and a good finish from Dec Bacon secured the points as Alfreton move 13 points clear of the drop and with the play offs ten points away, the Reds will know the importance of the next two fixtures in terms of picking up three points to at least keep up the pressure on sides above us in the table.

We head into the game on Saturday looking for a fourth league win on the bounce for the first time since August. The Reds are also aiming for five straight wins in all competitions.

The Reds currently sit sixth in the form table with only the likes of Stockport, Brackley, York, Kidderminster and Spennymoor having picked up more points over the last five games.

Alfreton have won two of the last three away trips in the league (Guiseley and Kidderminster) and have tasted defeat on the road in just two of the last seven outings (Curzon and Southport).

Hosts Nuneaton have had a turbulent season so far with off-field problems leading to uncertainty in the clubs future with finances the main root of the club's troubles. Borough currently sit in 22nd place in the table with 16 points from 33 games.

Nuneaton's playing record stands at: P33, W3, D7, L23.

Borough have won just three times all season with their last league win coming on the 8th December in a 2-1 win at Darlington, leaving them without a win in the league in their last 13 games. Nuneaton's other wins both came in September with a 1-0 win at home to FC United and away at Curzon Ashton, also in a 1-0 win.

The hosts have only won once at home in the league all season and have lost their last seven games at Liberty Way with their current win-less league run at home standing at 11 games.
