Nuneaton Town v Alfreton Town

Nuneaton Town v Alfreton Town

Thursday Aug 31, 2017

This Saturday the Reds make the fairly short trip to Nuneaton Town for their latest Vanarama National League North contest, looking to repeat Monday's performance when Curzon Ashton were despatched 4-0 at the Impact Arena.

Last season saw a heavy 4-1 defeat at the Coombes Valley Arena. The Reds taking the lead through Adam Smith but then having to endure former Red, Joe Ironside plunder all four goals for the home side.

The two teams met at the Impact Arena for the return game on the last day of the season, the game finishing in a 3-3 draw with Alfreton's Liam Hearn bagging a hat-trick.

When both teams were in the Conference in the 2014-15 season we completed  the double winning both games 1-0 with David Mellor our scorer at the Impact Arena  and Bradley Wood from the penalty spot at the then named Liberty Stadium.

Nuneaton currently lie in 15th place in the table with seven points.

Their last game was on Bank Holiday Monday when they drew 1-1 at Boston United. Both goals came in added on time at the end of the game with Nuneaton thinking they had grabbed a late winner through substitute  Mitchell Glover. The Pilgrims still had time to grab a leveller from a corner through our own Brad McGowan currently on loan at York Street.

The Nuneaton Town side was : Dean Lyness, Luther Wildin, Courtney Wildin, Ryan Beswick, Brad Gascoinge ( former Red ), Niall Heaton ( former Red), Alex Henshall, Tom Elliott, Ashley Chambers, Brady Hickey, Jordan Nicholson

Subs: Mitchell Glover, Michael Tweed, Jon Ashton, Callum Ball, Elliott Taylor
