The boss reflects back on yesterday's 1-1 draw at York City

Reds boss Chris Moyses reflects back on our 1-1 draw at York City yesterday and hints out on changes for Tuesday night's Derbyshire Senior Cup semi final against Ilkeston Town.

Alfreton fell behind after five minutes at Bootham Crescent to a Simon Heslop goal before Tom Allan beautifully headed in the equaliser from a Brendon Daniels free kick after 38 minutes. The Reds once again showed fantastic organisation, solidity and looked dangerous on the attack throughout the game and the Reds were rewarded for another excellent performance by leaving York with a point.

Chris said:

"I was delighted with the result, It was a good and deserved point and we have just come out of a run of three very very tough games and we had a target from those, we didn't quite reach it but I was pleased with the fitness and performances levels we showed."

I wasn't very happy with the first half performance aside from our goal, I thought we were off it and we were very naive for their goal, we switched off completely and allowed the quick free kick to take place. But we spoke to the lads at half time and the second half was much better from us, we were always in the game and they are a good side, they are in the play offs so we were happy with the result."

On the Reds again matching up to another full time side:

"I think our fitness levels are excellent at the moment, we've done a lot of work on that and played a few other full time sides recently in Salford and Harrogate and our fitness has matched up there. We were hurting a bit from Tuesday so we needed to get something out of yesterday and we did!"

"I think we could have had more from the game at big moments, Marcus has had a good chance, Nyal also and if we were a little bit more clinical and ruthless we could have had more but we would certainly have took a point before the game."

On Tom Allan:

"He is a massive threat both attacking and defendng wise for us, he's a great player and he has been one of my stand out performers since I have been here and I was delighted for Tom to get the goal, a great header from another perfect Brendon delivery. It was a well crafted goal."

On Chris Elliott's return:

"Yeah he suffered a broken nose during the Salford game and we thought he would be available for yesterday but the mask that we are getting hasn't arrived yet so we are waiting on that and then we will see. But we have fantastic cover and you can see from how well Viktor is doing we have good strength in that position now. I thought Viktor had another solid game and he is performing very well."

On building on the point picked up at Bootham Crescent:

"Our recent run of form I would have wanted us to have picked up a few more points so it is disappointing but saying that we have played three very strong sides and been in every game so we will look at the positives."

"We definately need to build on it, we need to gain some momentum, I felt we lost a bit of that in the first half at York but we gained it again in the second half. It is an excellent point for us and we look to carry it into the Tuesday night game against Ilkeston, we'll change a few things up on Tuesday and it will be good to get to a cup final. We then will focus on an important fixture against Telford on Saturday."
