Macca: 'We have to be consistent'

Wednesday Jul 26, 2017

Reds Boss John McDermott has called for consistency after Alfreton's 5-1 defeat to a Notts County XI last night.

The Reds looked the better team in the first half and went into the break level at 1-1, however the second half was contrastingly different as the Magpies ran riot to secure a 5-1 win.

Macca said: "We started off too slow and it felt like deja vu with the Rotherham game where again we started slow. I felt we lacked aggression and our tempo was slow, it wasn't what I wanted."

"We then clicked into gear and the passges of play were different, we were fluid and passed the ball much better. We scored the best goal of the game after excellent build up play."

"Our passing was fast and aggressive and it took us a while to get to that moment, we need to start and be an aggressive passing team. We need to pass in the right areas and we did this in stages last night."

"Flair wont win you anything and that proved last night, we looked dis-organised at times; especially when Dizza came off, we made the same mistakes and our decision making wasn't good in the second half. When I introduced the subs the game was gone so their impact wasn't as influential."

"It was a good learning curve for us and the lesson is we have to be consistent, in the league we have to be consistent and do things back to back, we won't to be a strong aggressive side and if we start doing these things we'll do some damage."
