Leamington v Alfreton Town

Leamington v Alfreton Town

Sunday Sep 3, 2017

The Reds make the trip to Leamington this Tuesday evening looking to make it three games unbeaten in the Vanarama National League North after a good point gained in a 2-2 draw at Nuneaton Town on Saturday.

Leamington were promoted via the Evo-stik League South play-offs last season and have made a slow start to life at the higher level. However, last Saturday saw them win their second game of the season, 1-2 at FC United of Manchester. The Brake's goals came from Connor Gudger and substitute Colby Bishop, their first win since the opening day of the season.

The win lifted the Brakes off the foot of the table after six consecutive defeats.

The Leamington side was : Breeden, Taundry, Gudger, Clark, English, Mace, Thompson-Brown, Dunbar, Moore, Gittings, Obeng

Subs : Bishop, Magunda, Revan, Canavan, Butterfield

A win for the Reds should see them move in to the top half of the table.

We last played Leamington in the old Midland League back in the 1960's. In those days they were known as Lockheed Leamington being the works team of the local brake manufacturing company, later known as AP Leamington, they now play at a different ground some way out of town and have plans to move to a new stadium back in the town.
