LAW: WREXHAM TIE IS WINNABLE
Wednesday Nov 6, 2013
All Alfreton Town eyes are firmly turned towards this Saturday's huge FA Cup first round tie at Skrill Premier rivals Wrexham.
It is a carbon copy of last season's game at the same round of the competition which the Reds won 4-2 at the Racecourse Ground, for which they were rewarded with a televised second round home clash against Leyton Orient.
The Reds go into the Wrexham tie on the back of three straight wins in all competitions, the latest being a superb 3-0 home league win over FC Halifax Town last Saturday and they will be confident of progressing to the second round proper for the third time in the club's history.
Alfreton will also be buoyed by the fact that they have a very good record at the Racecourse Ground over the past few seasons.
Law commented: "The league is our bread and butter. We are not going to win the FA Cup are we?
However, it is a game that both teams will look at and think it is not ideal, but one which is winnable.
"I think that if we go there and perform like we have of late, then I think we have a good chance of getting a result" added Law.
"If we can do that, then we pick the prize money up and we get the chance of a good draw after that.
"The Wrexham tie is not a distraction from our league duties, it is a chance for the lads to advance in the FA Cup and for the club to make once again make a name for itself so let's hope we can do just that" ended Law.
As well as a place in the second round, there is a very nice sum of £18,000 in prize money for the winners of what looks to be an intriguing cup tie.
Should a replay be necessary, this will take place at the Impact Arena on Tuesday, November 19th at 7.45pm.
Alfreton Town Supporters Association have a very few seats available on a second coach for Saturday's FA Cup trip to North Wales. Anyone wishing to book a seat should contact Mark Thorpe on 07857 558401 at the very earliest opportunity.
