Billy Heath gives his pre Kidderminster thoughts ahead of the new season

Reds Boss Billy Heath spoke with Amar Sharma ahead of the Reds opening league game of the season at home to Kidderminster Harriers tomorrow afternoon.

With a busy summer completed for the Reds which included a host of new signings as well as a promising and solid pre season, attention now turns back to the new league season as the Reds look for a strong campaign with a squad full of intent, quality and experience.

Billy said:

"Pre season has gone really well, we've progressed well and I thought we were steady in the opening two, three games. We were okay in those as we were finding our feet, settling into how we want to play and the lads getting used to each other and getting the minutes and fitness."

"The last three games I thought we were fantastic, we've shown amazing progression and we were particularly excellent against Burton and Chesterfield. The lads have really took to how we want to play, they've come together as a team far quicker than I expected."

On signings:

"Lots been said about us when we brought in several players from the same place, Saturday's starting 11 had only four players that had played together which was outstanding. We've made some outstanding signings, lots of experience, lots of quality. It's a tight group and the dressing room is a really good place. I'm delighted with the squad and I know the fans are too."

"There's a great understanding between all the lads, we're really pleased and every player is here because they want to be here. It's all about the team, the players know what to expect from us and effort and desire is crucial and it's the most important element for us."

On Kidderminster:

"It's the toughest start we could have asked for, our first ten games are arguably against sides looking at the top ten spots in the table. You could say we have at least 15 teams in the league who will expect to be promoted, it's a crazy division and it keeps getting tougher."

"It will be a good test, a strong test right from the start and that can be a good thing. We are confident, we don't fear anyone and if we can impose our game on them, they will have problems. Kiddy are a good side, good at what they do so we need to be alert at all times during the game.

"The first game is always frenetic, doesn't matter what you do in pre season you can never replicate the first game. Three points are crucial to start with and we will be aiming for that."
