Gloucester City 4 Alfreton Town 0
Sunday Mar 26, 2017
After two excellent wins at the Impact Arena Alfreton came back down to earth after a convincing 4-0 defeat in Cheltenham at the hands of Gloucester City who went on to complete the double over the Reds having won 2-0 at The Impact Arena earlier in the campaign.
The Reds were unable to cope with the pace of the home side's forward players in particular former Cheltenham Town player Zack Kotwica who bagged a hat-trick with goals in the 6th, 73rd and 79th minutes, his third coming from the penalty spot after he was brought down in the box.
Gloucester's fourth goal came from the speedy Luke Hopper in the 87th minute.
The Red's competed well in the first half on what proved to be a very difficult, sand covered surface. The home side were much the stronger in the second half with the Reds failing to test the home keeper Jasbir Singh.
Alfreton are 16th in the Vanarama National League North table, now nine points above the relegation zone. They will be looking to continue their good home form when Bradford Park Avenue are the next visitors to the Impact Arena, this coming Saturday kick-off 3 pm.
