Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law has made his third signing of summer with former Burnley goalkeeper Jon Stewart returning to the Impact Arena on a one-year deal.

The 6'2'' keeper will be starting a third period with the Reds having already served two previous loan spells at the Impact Arena.

The big 25-year-old was a very popular figure with Alfreton fans during his previous stays at the club with the Reds faithful nicknaming him 'The Beast'.

His first spell was for the last two months of Alfreton's inaugural Conference Premier Division campaign in 2011/12 where he produced a string of top performances to help the Reds comfortably retain their league status. The second loan period saw him with Alfreton for the first half of the 2012/13 season.

During the two loan spells, Stewart kept seven clean sheets over 27 league games.

Reds manager Nicky Law is delighted the big keeper has joined Alfreton for a third time

He explained his joy saying: “We are really pleased to have Jon back. He was one I thought about last year and we have been keen on him for some time.

"When he first came to us he did a fantastic job for the club. Unfortunately, the second time wasn't quite as good as Jon was in something of a bad place as he didn't know where his future lay (with Burnley).

"After being released by Burnley (in May 2013), he went to Worksop Town last season where he was excellent. We had him watched quite a few times and I am absolutely delighted that he has agreed to join us again.

"Jon fits very well into the category of player we are looking to recruit this season. He is very enthusiastic, of the right age, ability, has plenty to prove, and most of all will fit into a good changing room which we are trying to create" ended Law.
