FA Cup Preview: Sutton Coldfield Town v Alfreton Town

FA Cup Preview: Sutton Coldfield Town v Alfreton Town

Friday Sep 21, 2018

The Reds take a break from league action tomorrow as attention turns to the Emirates FA Cup and a Second Qualifying Round tie at Evo-Stik South Division One Central side Sutton Coldfield Town.

After back to back league defeats to Guiseley and league leaders Chorley, Alfreton will be looking to get back to winning ways tomorrow in a difficult challenge against a side sitting two leagues below.

Chorley was a harsh check for the Reds whose three errors; cost three goals last weekend. two penalties and a spillage from Sam Ramsbottom proved the difference in a 3-1 loss, however it was those fine margins that will give Billy Heath a reason to build on a performance which matched the leaders for good spells.

Errors will be a trait the boss will look to iron out as the league campaign rumbles on. A win in this FA Cup tie will at least put the Reds back on track and back in the winning feeling.

Opponents Sutton Coldfield progressed to this stage thanks to replay win against Rushall Olympic. After a 2-2 draw in the first fixture at Coles Lane, the Royals won 0-1 in the second fixture to set up the tie. The hosts last outing was a 3-0 defeat at Yaxley in the league last Saturday.

Sutton's home form in all competitions reads: W1, D2, L1

Sutton Coldfield Form (Last five): WLDWL

Alfreton's defeat at Chorley ended a sequence of three straight away wins, the Reds will be looking for a fourth away win in the last five in all competitions.
