Boreham Wood 2 Alfreton Town 1
Monday Jan 16, 2017
The Reds put up a brave fight in the Second Round of the FA Trophy before going down to a goal in the first minute of added on time.
The home side took the lead through a fine individual goal by Angelo Balanta after 35 minutes. The second half saw the Reds equalise through a fine header from Niall Heaton after, an excellent corner from Paul Marshall after 56 minutes.
The Reds nearly took the lead immediately after through an Andy Monkhouse half volley well saved by the home keeper Smith.
Just when a replay looked on the cards, Wood won the game with Kenny Davis firing home from a Jeffrey pull-back to break Alfreton's hearts in the first minute of added on time.
The Red's put on a stirring display which if replicated over the coming weeks, will surely see them start to climb the National League North table.
