Bateson moves to the Impact Arena

Thursday May 31, 2018

ATFC are delighted to confirm the signing of forward Curtis Bateson from Gainsborough Trinity.

Curtis pens a one year deal with the Reds.

Bateson came through the youth ranks at Scunthorpe United and signed a professional contract with the Iron at the beginning of the 2014/15 season.

He had two loan spells with Gainsborough Trinity before joining North Ferriby in January 2015. Bateson made 99 league appearances (79 starts and 21 as a substitute) for the Villagers, scoring 19 goals.

Bateson was also member of Ferriby's National League North play-off final winning squad in the 2015/16 season.

Curtis would then join Gainsborough Trinity in November 2017 before being released at the end of the 2017/18 campaign.

Billy Heath on signing Bateson:

“I’ve known Curtis for a long time and very well whilst I worked with him at Ferriby. He hit double figures in goals in first season in the Conference North and he really took the league by storm in that first season, we had several clubs higher up sniffing for him during that time.”

“Injuries have hampered his recent progress and he hasn’t fulfilled his target since injury, he wants to progress and was delighted to come to Alfreton and join the project at the Impact Arena.”

“He is a sharp lad, good on both feet, can operate well off the front man. He’s desperate to make up for lost time and we are delighted to have him with us here at Alfreton.”
