Read our report from Saturday's win as the Reds made it three wins in four

Alfreton Town recorded their third win from four games under Chris Moyses when they edged past mid-table rivals Tamworth at a rather damp lmpact Arena on Saturday.

The win completed a double for the Reds - their fourth of the season - having won 3-2 on Tamworth's artificial surface back in October, oddly enough a late winner from Craig Westcarr the outcome of both meetings.

Darryl Knights struck first for the visitors in the 26th minute, steering the loose ball low past Chris Elliott following a move that was far from fluent, but Alfreton were level within ten minutes when Brendon Daniels swept a free-kick directly into the net from 22 yards after Chris Sharp had been brought down by Joel Kettle.

Moments before half-time Tamworth defender Andy Burns was sent off for bringing down Cieron Keane in full flight for goal, but it was only in the 86th minute that victory was sealed after Tom Allan had been impeded by Connor Taylor and Westcarr had stroked home the ensuing penalty.

Sharp had been presented with a gilt-edged chance as early as the ninth minute, but glanced his header wide from a Bradley Wood cross, then four minutes later Keane sent Ryan Jennings through for a cross that zipped through the goalmouth.

Akwasi Asante headed wide for Tamworth from a Burns cross, then six minutes before the visitors took the lead Elliott needed to make a sprawling save from Asante.

A deep cross from Wood landed on the roof of the Tamworth net, then both Daniels and Sharp had shots blocked before the equaliser arrived.

The second half was not quite as cut and thrust as its predecessor, but Elliott again needed to save from Asante and an awkward free-kick taken by Knights saw the Reds' keeper briefly juggling with the ball before takng control.

The closest either side came to scoring before the penalty award was when Kyron Stabana cleared off the line from Luke Shiels following an 81st minute corner.

The win saw Alfreton leapfrog over their opponents to secure 13th place in the National League North.
