Alfreton Town 0 Bradford Park Avenue 1
Sunday Apr 2, 2017
After three successive home wins in the Vanarama National League North, Alfreton tasted defeat with a disappointing 1-0 reversal to fellow strugglers Bradford Park Avenue at the Impact Arena this Saturday to give the visitors the double over the Reds having won by the same scoreline at the Horsfall Stadium back in November.
The game proved to be hard fought but with few chances. Alfreton had the better of the early stages with Bradford uncertain at the back. The all important goal came in the 16th minute when Avenue's Oli Johnson latched onto a weak backpass by Terry Kennedy before rounding Red's keeper Fabian Spiess and slotting home.
Alfreton's leading scorer, Craig Westcarr had an opportunity to level matters from the spot after Callum McFadzean was tripped, but former Red's keeper John Worsnop was equal to the task pulling off a save low to his left.
The results leaves the Reds in 17th place in the table still nine points ahead of the relegation zone.
The Reds now have to pick themselves up with a home game at the Impact Arena against strugglers Stalybridge Celtic this Tuesday evening kick off 7-45 pm.
