Alfreton Town v Stalybridge Celtic

Alfreton Town v Stalybridge Celtic

Thursday Mar 2, 2017

This Saturday sees the Reds entertain Stalybridge Celtic in a crucial Vanarama Nationl League North clash at the Impact Arena kick off 3 pm.

The Reds will be looking to build on last weeks impressive display at promotion seeking Chorley, going down 2-1 to two late goals from the Lancashire outfit.

Stalybridge currently lie next the bottom of the league with fifteeen points and only four wins from their 28 league games. They have shown signs of improvement under new manager, the much travelled Steve Burr. Their last outing saw them put on a good performance at Salford City going down 1-0 to a 56th minute goal by Mike Phenix. Last week saw their home encounter with Bradford Park Avenue postponed due to a waterlooged pitch.

Three points  for the Reds will certainly be useful in their quest to move away from the relegation trap-door.

The Reds were 3-2 winners on visiting Stalybridge back in October, when they took a two goal lead with goals from Craig Westcarr and Sam Smith. The Tameside men got back on terms in the second half only for Adam Priestley to net a last gasp winner fo the Reds.

The Supporters Association hold their next meeting this coming Monday at the Victoria starting at 7-30 pm. All are most welcome.
