Alfreton Town 2 Burnley 3

Alfreton Town 2 Burnley 3

Monday Jul 24, 2017

Premier League Burnley arrived at the Impact Arena on Saturday with a number of their star First Team players plus Manager Sean Dyche.

The Burnley starting line-up included the likes of Tom Heaton, Tendayi Dawrikwa, Andre Gray, James Tarkowski, Sean Long and Steven Defour amongst others.

The Reds gave a tremendous account of themselves surviving heavy early pressure keeping the Clarets out due to some resolute defending and fantasric goalkeeping from new signing Chris Elliott. The Reds found themselves one goal up at half time due to a fine glancing header from Tom Allan after a Ryan Jennings free-kick on 41 minutes. Andre Gray equalised for the visitors on 53 minutes, but the Reds regained the lead just three minutes later when Chris Sharp turned a loose ball past England International, Tom Heaton. Andre Gray bagged his second goal for the Clarets on 65 minutes after a very dubious penalty was awarded after a foul on him by Luke Shiels.

Gray went on to complete his hat-trick in the 79th minute, slotting home after being put through by Jack Cork to give the Clarets a 3-2 win.

The last time Andre Gray appeared at the Impact Arena it was for Luton Town in the Conference when he hit  four goals.

Attendance : 385
