ALFRETON TOWN BRING IN STRIKER AKINDE
Monday Aug 12, 2013
Alfreton Town have manager Nicky Law has strengthened his squad by signing Job Ayo Akinde on a one-year deal.
A 6'2'' striker, 'John' was released by Portsmouth at the end of last season and it appeared as if he was heading for League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge - where he had previously undergone two loan spells - after leaving a trial with Conference South side Dover Athletic and Conference Premier outfit Woking last month.
The 24-year-old came through Ebbsfleet United`s ranks and is renowned as being the first ever transfer decided members of MyFootballClub, who sold him to Bristol City in 2008.
He played 16 times for City and also had a rash of loan stints with clubs of the ilk of Wycombe Wanderers, Brentford, Bristol Rovers and Dagenham during his time at Ashton Gate.
He finally left the Robins for Crawley Town in May 2011 and he made 31 appearances for the Reds before being released in January 2013 whereupon he signed for Portsmouth on a month-to-month contract.
John will wear squad number 18 and goes straight into Nicky Law's squad for Tuesday night's first Skrill Premier home game of the season against Kidderminster Harriers.
