OVER 500 TICKETS SOLD ALREADY Alfreton Town’s exploits in the FA Cup has captured the imagination of football fans throughout the area.
The Reds began the sale of their tickets for their history-making second round tie at Scunthorpe United last Saturday and within two days, over half of their initial 1000 allocation has been sold.
And with just over a week left to sell them, chairman Wayne Bradley commented: “We are certainly on target to beat the total of 727 which backed us at Macclesfield in 2004.
“I would urge supporters who have not yet booked their ticket for the big game to do so in the next few days.”
Transport is also proving popular with fans and the club were on bus number five at the time of going to press, one of which is a double decker. It is anticipated the coaches will travel in convoy.

Meanwhile, manager Nicky Law has rewarded young central defender Aden Flint with a contract to the end of the season.
Flint, 19, made a tremendous debut in the 2-2 draw at Redditch United recently and has moved permanently to the Reds from Pinxton FC for an undisclosed fee.
And Law has also enhanced Jordan Hall’s contract which has now been extended to the 2009/2010 season.

ALFRETON TOWN V SOLIHULL MOORS, SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 15th
Alfreton Town return to Blue Square North league action on Saturday with a home game against Solihull Moors.
Reds manager Nicky Law has a full strength squad to choose from with the exception of Matt Wilson who, despite finishing a two match suspension, has unfortunately not recovered from injury.
The sides drew 2-2 in the West Midlands early in the season with two late Leo Fortune-West goals rescuing a point for the Reds after the Moors had looked set to take all three points.
Alfreton go into the game with three wins and a draw from their last four outings and a win can push them into the top half of the table and keep them firmly in touch with the play off places.
Victory would also give the Reds a confidence boost ahead of two tough away games on the horizon at Blyth Spartans in the FA Trophy and Scunthorpe United in the FA Cup.
And now the recent rush of suspensions and injuries has abated, there is strong competition for places in all departments and Law will be looking for his side to build on their recent good form whilst the fringe players will be desperate to push themselves into the picture for the club's biggest game in their history in a fortnight.
The Moors haven't enjoyed the best of fortunes on the road this season with just one win (2-1 at Burscough) and one draw (0-0 at Hinckley) from eight outings and six defeats, five of them heavy with four 3-0 defeats and a 5-0 reverse at Stalybridge Celtic.
However, they have picked up eight points out of the last 18 including a fine 2-1 home win over Droylsden in midweek which was preceded by a 2-2 draw with Hyde United.
Top scorer is striker Jake Edwards with four but it was Mark Gardener who came off the bench to net both goals against Droylsden and he is one of five players on a brace of goals.
Reds fans are reminded that tickets for the Scunthorpe United second round FA Cup tie are on sale at the game.
SCUNTHORPE UNITED TICKET SALES AND TRANSPORT PLANS Alfreton Town have announced their ticket and travel plans for their biggest game ever.
The Reds created history last Saturday by reaching the FA Cup second round for the first time ever and now face a huge game at Coca Cola League One leaders Scunthorpe United on Saturday, November 29.
The two clubs have negotiated and agreed to reduce Scunthorpe’s normal admission prices down to £12 adults, £6 concessions and £4 for under-16s for the cup tie.
Alfreton have been allocated the South Stand at Scunthorpe’s Glanford Park which has a capacity of 1,678. Admission for Alfreton fans is by ticket only. Tickets for the tie will go on sale from this Saturday and will be available for purchase in a number of ways.
They will initially be available at Alfreton’s Blue Square North home game against Solihull Moors this Saturday.
They are allocated tickets, which means fans will be buying a specific seat placing, so it is obviously first come, first served for the better seats and it is hoped the club will have a plan of the South Stand available to view at this Saturday’s game.
After the Solihull league game fans will be able to purchase tickets by post or telephone.
Postal applications can be paid for either by cheque made out to Alfreton Town FC or by debit card and should be submitted to Scunthorpe United FA Cup tickets, Impact Marketing and Publicity Limited, Media House, 116-118 Derby Road, Stapleford, Nottinghamshire, NG9 7AD.
Fans wishing to purchase tickets by telephone should contact Impact Marketing on 01159 392090 extension 107 and payment can be made by either Visa or debit card.
Alternatively, people wishing to purchase them in person can call in at the Impact Arena between 9am and 4pm Mondays to Fridays until the allocation runs out.
Season ticket holders will be guaranteed to receive a ticket for the game. Transport
The club have also announced this week that they are working with the ATFC Supporters’ Association to guarantee that enough buses will be put on to get fans to the history-making game no matter how many want to travel.
Chairman Wayne Bradley said: “No matter what the demand is, it will be met.
“I know the players and management have openly acknowledged the terrific volumes of support we have had on our travels, particularly in the FA Cup.
“The players have definitely responded to the support they have received on our travels. And if we can get big numbers to Scunthorpe it will make a difference to the team’s performance as we try and make more history by causing perhaps the biggest upset of this season’s FA Cup so far, bearing in mind Scunthorpe are 86 places ahead of us and the highest ranking club left in the competition at this stage.
“Everyone going to the game could be witnessing something quite special if we progress.
“It would be brilliant if we can beat the 727 we took with us to the Macclesfield Town first round replay back in 2004.” Fares
Fares for bus travel will be £10 for adults and £5 for Under-16s. Transportation vouchers will be available to purchase in exactly the same way and means as match tickets and places can be booked on coaches from this Saturday’s game against Solihull Moors onwards.
It is anticipated that the coaches will depart from Alfreton at 12.30pm, going straight to the ground and returning to Alfreton immediately after the cup tie.

LAW: "SCUNTHORPE TIE IS HARDEST WE COULD HAVE HAD" Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law has described the Reds' second round draw as 'just about the hardest we could have had'.
Alfreton booked their place in the second round for the first time in their history by beating Bury Town 4-2 in a see-saw contest at the Impact Arena on Saturday.
But now they face a daunting trip to Scunthorpe, who are sitting proudly at the top of League One - three divisions above the Reds.
It will not be Law's first visit to Glanford Park in the Cup, for he was a member of the Ilkeston Town side that drew there in the competition a few years ago, although the Robins lost the replay.
Reflecting on Saturday's tie, Law said: "I thought in the first half we absolutely tore into them, I thought it was just going to be one way traffic.
"We scored the goal and then all of a sudden we switched off for some reason and sat off them.
"We got done on the first goal. Johnson dropped out on Tommy Curtis. He has passed the ball on and then got in behind him
"Then the second goal, Jordan Hall is marking the nine when his man, the 11 scored. We dropped off, we never got tight. When we got the ball we rushed it, we didn't keep it.
"I had a bit of a go at half time and in the second half I thought Fortune-West was magnificent, every one of them was, and we have really turned it around.
"I knew if we were at our best and they were that we would have too much for them, I knew we would be too powerful. And at times when we put pressure on them, and we forced them when we got tight, we showed out there how superior we were. We were much too strong and quick for them.
"In the second half we dug in and got a great result. I am so proud to be the one to get the club to this level.
"It's nice to have been able to make a bit more money. That's another £20,000 plus a share of the gate receipts so on the one day we have done about £24,000-plus which is brilliant.
"I am pleased for the chairman as well. He just goes about his business, very dignified, he doesn't make too much of a noise. And even though we have got there, he sits there in the background letting it all happen and people take the plaudits but he needs to take some plaudits too.
"He is a fantastic chairman. That is not just a manager talking about his chairman, but he is a fantastic bloke as well and I am really pleased for him.
"Regardless of what happens at Scunthorpe, I am pleased we have made history for the club and done it, that is something we have achieved. I am really pleased for everybody."
The Reds had gone into the Bury Town game with four players on four cautions - Josh Law, Ben Muirhead, Paul Clayton and Leo Fortune-West, so all four will be walking a tightrope to avoid any further bookings which would rule them out of the trip to Glanford Park.
Law added: "We spoke about that before the game, the need for discipline. The other night at Redditch there were 11 bookings and two sending offs when there wasn't a tackle in the game, which was absolutely scandalous.
"With that in mind I told the players before the game 'you are not going to win the battle with the referees, we just have to get our heads down and get on with it'.
"They have got a tough job to do. Some of them don't make it easy on themselves, but to be fair, the referee was very good on Saturday and the fourth official was excellent. He spoke to you properly and you responded to him.
"I thought there were a few who were magnificent but I was really pleased for Josh (Law]. He is only a kid and some of the recent criticism has hurt him to be fair.
"But he showed some fantastic skill and great courage to bully Martin McIntosh off the ball for the penalty, and to put it away like he did was a very brave bit of work by him.
"And Clayton was fantastic throughout the game, capped off by a great goal right at the end. He ran the channels and caused them problems all day."
NEW DATE FOR TAMWORTH GAME ANNOUNCED Alfreton Town's Blue Square North fixture at Tamworth has been rearranged for Tuesday, December 9, 2008, with a 7.45pm kick-off at the Lamb. The fixture was originally scheduled for Saturday, November 29, but the Reds are now in FA Cup second round action at Scunthorpe United that day. However, should the Scunthorpe cup tie require a replay, this will be played on December 9 and the Tamworth fixture will have to be re-accommodated again.

ALFRETON TOWN 4, BURY TOWN 2
Alfreton Town made history by reaching the FA Cup second round proper for the first time ever after turning round a 2-1 half-time deficit to sweep aside Suffolk visitors Bury Town on Saturday.
In front of a crowd of 1,060 the Reds had the boost of a fourth minute lead when Martin McIntosh headed home a superb Danny Mayman cross but a strong start ebbed away and Bury equalised with their first real attack on 22 minutes when Gavin Johnson netted in-off the bar from almost on the line.
The Southern League Midlands Division visitors then went in front on 34 minutes when Liam Barrett's right flank cross was allowed to reach Lee Reed unmarked eight yards out at the far post and he netted with a low left footed shot across home keeper Tom Evans.
After stern words at half time from manager Nicky Law, the Reds turned on the power and they were level on 61 minutes when Leo Fortune-West headed home through a ruck of players from six yards to finish Josh Law's corner.
Three minutes later Alfreton were in front when Paul Clayton was pulled down in the penalty area by Sam Nunn and Josh Law coolly despatched the spot kick into the top right corner.
Man of the match Clayton got his reward for a superb display of front running in the second minute of stoppage time when he advanced 30-yards down the left before cutting in past Stuart Walker on the byline and clipping the fourth goal home over Bury keeper Marcus Garnham from almost on the front post.

ALFRETON TOWN V BURY TOWN
Fasten your safety belts as the magic of the FA Cup returns. Saturday sees Alfreton Town in FA Cup first round proper action for only a fourth time and standing in the way of a first ever second round proper appearance are Suffolk-based Bury Town.
Kick-off at the Impact Arena is 3pm but with a far bigger crowd than usual expected, fans are urged to arrive early.
And, with a massive £20,000 prize money plus a place in the second round proper at stake, every little is going to help towards the cause. Really get behind the boys, be loud, be proud, be the Reds' 12th man and make the difference.
REST IN PEACE It is with much sadness the club have to report the passing of Mr Bill Draper senior on Friday evening. A regular throughout many of the club's almost 50-year recent history, gentleman Bill will be very sadly missed by all at Alfreton Town Football Club.
He passed away after a short illness, having reached the grand young age of 88 three days before his last away trip to watch his beloved Reds which was at Shepshed Dynamo in the FA Cup second qualifying round.
Sincere condolences are extended from everyone at the club to Bill Draper junior at this sad time.
Rest in peace 'Pop'.

PUBLICITY
The club has enjoyed some tremendous publicity in the local press this week and further afield and congratulations are definitely due to manager Nicky Law and Supporters' Association chairman John Staimar who both gave exceptionally good interviews on BBC Radio Derby on Friday.
NEW PICTURE GALLERY UNVEILED
With the Reds involved in their biggest game for four years on Saturday, what better time to unveil a brand new picture gallery - The Alfreton Town Yesteryear Picture Gallery. There are only two albums on there at the moment but they are very relevant to the occasion, the FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay win over Worksop Town and the first round proper home tie against Macclesfield Town, both from the 2004/05 season. Both can be viewed here The gallery will have new albums added over time and if anyone has any past Reds pictures they would like added, just email them to me at: atfcwebmanager@aol.com
A permanent link to the Yesteryear gallery has been added just underneath the next match/last match boxes above.
