Such is the esteem in which he is held at the club, Russ is now contracted to the club until the end of the 2013/14 season having been rewarded with an extension deal in May 2011.
Has an infectious enthusiasm for the game and a hugely expansive knowledge of it.
He arrived at Alfreton Town on May 14, 2007, having been part of a successful management trio at Buxton for two seasons.
As a midfield player he began with Everton under Howard Kendall where he had four years before having trials at both Sheffield United and Leeds United.
A knee injury ended his professional aspirations and after a short spell with Sheffield FC, he turned to management in Sunday League football.
Following a hugely successful 13-year spell he was asked by Nicky Law to join him at Buxton and then on to Alfreton where his his vast array of contacts in the non league game have come to the fore with several of the club's signings since he joined the club.
