He was a a free agent after being part of the Ilkeston Town squad which was left without a club in the early part of the 2010/2011 season and then seeing out the campaign at Blyth Spartans.
North Shields-born Lowson has previously been described as a quality goalkeeper and excellent shot stopper. He earned high praise during his stint with Ilkeston Town with a string of consistently good performances in Blue Square Bet North before the club disappeared.
He is a former England Schoolboy trialist who has also played for Gretna and Newcastle Blue Star.
