Alfreton Town signed 6'2'' central defender Darran Kempson on contract to the end of the 2011/12 season in late January and his fully committed efforts helped greatly towards the Reds retaining their Conference Premier Division status for a second season.
He was rewarded with a new one-year contract in the summer of 2012 and is the captain of the side.
Kempson, 27, was a free agent after having a two-year contract signed with Grimsby Town in June 2010 cancelled by mutual consent in December 2011. He had been club captain at Blundell Park.
He has a wealth of experience at Conference Premier level and above and his list of former clubs include Morecambe, Wrexham, Shrewsbury Town, Crewe Alexandra, Accrington Stanley.
