Player Profiles 2017/18 - John McDermott (Manager)

 John McDermott became the Red's manager in May 2017 after leaving his position as Director of Football at Cleethorpes Town.

As a player he was full back at Grimsby Town from 1987-2007, a twenty year playing career that saw him make a record 647 league games, an all time club record. In all he played 754 games for the Mariners. He is one of only seventeen players in the history of English football to play over 600 games in the Football League for a single club.

After retiring from football in April 2007, John began coaching at the Grimsby Institute Academy before being appointed assistant manager at Harrogate Town in 2010.

John received the PFA Merit Award in 2009.
