He is a product of Liverpool FC's Academy having joined the Merseysiders as an eight-year-old in 2000. He signed his first professional contract at the age of 17 at the end of his first year with the Reds' Academy but unfortunately injury kept him out of the FA Youth Cup final in 2008.
He joined the Brewers on a two-year deal in the summer of 2010 after negotiating his release from Anfield by mutual consent due to fierce competition for places.
James had loan spells at both Stafford Rangers and Hednesford Town during the 2010/11 season.
He made three appearances in the Brewers' first team as a substitute last season and netted both goals for Albion's reserve side in a 4-2 home defeat by Nottingham Forest just two days before joining the Reds.
Albion manager Paul Peschisolido describes him as 'a good finisher with an excellent eye for goal'.
